First, the weekend weather:
We’re looking at a mostly cloudy weekend, but luckily, for all the little ghosts and goblins, we probably won’t get rain until Monday. Today’s expected high is 68 degrees, tomorrow’s is 66 and Monday’s is 61. The overnight lows will be in the mid-50s for all three days. Winds should stay light in the 5-10 mph range and humidity will stay high in the 75%-85% range.

Here are the top stories today in Roseville:
- Halloween prank? Beginning of the zombie apocalypse? REALLY need to clean the bathroom? Those were my first thoughts as I noticed a slightly green tinge to my toilet bowl water on Thursday night. Luckily, those fears were put to rest by our friends at Roseville Today with this informative article about an increase of organic material in water coming from Roseville’s primary reservoir, Folsom Lake. The culprit is runoff from our recent rainstorm. City officials and our chief water treatment plant operator assure us the water is safe to drink and should return to its normal, clearer color soon. (Roseville Today)
- If you have littles in the family, or are just a really big Disney fan, you probably know that Disney On Ice’s “Let’s Celebrate” is at Golden 1 Center in Sacramento this weekend. In fact, you might even recognize a familiar face as Loomis native Haylie Ferreira graces the ice as Ariel from The Little Mermaid. The Del Oro High School graduate has been skating since the age of ten, reached her professional dreams and will continue to travel throughout the U.S. and Mexico with the show. (Gold Country Media)
- All grown up and not sure what to do with your life? Truity, at 2999 Douglas Boulevard, offers a variety of personality tests like the Myers-Briggs and Enneagram to help clients figure out what careers might be best for them. Abby Lunardini, chief marketing officer of Truity, is featured in the newest issue of Style Magazine. Learn more about Abby and Truity here. (Style Magazine)
- Of all the supply shortages I thought Northern California might experience with the global slowdown, wine was not on the list. I mean, we live right next door to one of the largest wine regions in the world, right? So, apparently, we have the wine, but Nor Cal vintners are experiencing delays in shipments of glass, barrels, labels and cardboard for containing our beloved adult beverage. And with shortages, come inflated prices for these materials. I don’t want to start a run on liquor stores or anything (Great Toilet Paper Armageddon of 2020, anyone?), but it might be a good idea to stock up on your holiday spirits soon. (KCRA 3)
- With all the hoopla about Halloween this week, it’s easy to overlook a few other widely celebrated observances that also take place this weekend. All Saints Day and All Souls Day, Nov. 1st and 2nd respectively, are celebrated by Christians around the globe to commemorate, honor and pray for the faithful departed. Nov. 1st is also recognized by Latino cultures as Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) and celebrated by creating beautiful altars to honor and pray for deceased loved ones. This is a pretty bare-bones (pun intended) summary, so I’ve included some links here if you want to learn more or find related events to attend. (BBC.com, FOX 40 and ABC 10)

- Creekside Town Center (across from the Galleria) will be handing out free goody bags of treats to little visitors on Halloween. There will also be arm painting and a balloon artist to entertain. The action will be near the Nails 19 location in the center. Sunday 11:00 am - 1:00 pm
Roseville Patch Notebook:
- The Assistance League of Greater Placer took over the Roseville Target store recently to take some kiddos shopping. Their Operation School Bell program receives referrals from schools to identify schoolchildren who are in need of clothing. Volunteers then assist the children with their shopping. There are some very smiley faces in these photos – kiddos and volunteers! (Instagram)
- The Doggie Bag is making appointments now to take holiday themed photos of your furry friends, complete with festive backgrounds, accessories and props. The photo sessions take place on Sunday, November 7th and Saturday, November 13th. A $20 deposit is required. Call them soon before all the timeslots are full! (Facebook)
- Congratulations to Roseville Health & Wellness Center (where my better half and I just started going!) for being voted #1 Best Gym/Health Club by Style Magazine for the 15th time! It also received #1-#3 rankings in several other areas like Best Yoga Studio and Best Pilates Instructor. Check out all its awards here. (Facebook)
- One of the busier, cramped-for-space intersections in Rocklin is getting a redesign. Construction begins in November on a two-lane roundabout that will replace the four-way stop at Rocklin Road and Pacific Street. It will be the third roundabout installed on the segment of Rocklin Road west of Interstate 80. Sure does make for some fun driving. (Twitter)
