- It's hard to believe that @the Grounds has been around for 5 years, but it has! In that time, it has hosted nearly 800 events and become a model for the tourism industry across the US. Transforming the old Placer County Fairgrounds proved to be a boon for the Roseville economy, generating more than $15 million every year to Placer Valley – or about $75 million since 2017. “The economic impact, it’s just amazing,” said Kim Summers of Placer Valley Tourism. “We have fairgrounds [in other counties] that are looking at our model.” @the Grounds could serve as a blueprint for other fairgrounds struggling to survive. - Each week, Patch and ZipRecruiter put together a roundup of the latest local jobs posted in the region. Here are some of the top jobs currently available in Roseville and across greater California (Roseville Patch)
- Napa's Dylan Zampa took home a victory in Saturday's Velocity Solar Night at the All American Speedway in Roseville. Roseville's Conor West spun in the third corner of the third lap, bringing out a caution flag. Zampa Motorsports also assisted with a 50-50 raffle for the Placer Breast Cancer Foundation. All told, the foundation took home $1,210. (Speedway Digest)
- There are sweet places to eat sweet desserts all over Roseville. This article from Style Magazine highlights several of them. From BAD Bakers to Posh Baking, you'll find something to satisfy your sweet tooth. My favorite is Kelli’s Cookies for Goodness Bakes. Kelli’s Cookies is a nonprofit "dedicated to mentoring, employing, and inspiring foster and at-risk youth in Placer County and beyond." Where will your dessert come from tonight? (Style Magazine)
- The Placer County District Attorney’s Office along with the Amador County District Attorney's Office are asking for answers from the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation on why offender Darnell Erby was released from prison after serving only about half of his sentence for crimes committed in the two counties. Erba, after his release, allegedly went on to commit a heinous crime. Erba has been arrested and charged in connection with the brutal murder and dismemberment of a 77-year-old Sacramento woman on July 19, 2022. According to Gold Country Media "The Placer County District Attorney’s Office is requesting documentation surrounding the decision to release Erby and what actions are being taken to ensure inmates who do in fact pose a risk of violence to the community remain incarcerated."
