Here are the top five stories today in Roseville:
- Planning is underway for the future widening of Roseville Parkway between the Gibson Drive and Creekside Ridge Drive intersections. The project is currently in the design phase and construction is estimated to begin in 2024. You can join city officials for an open house to learn about the improvements and have your questions answered on Tuesday, Sept. 20 at Catheryn Gates Elementary. (roseville.ca.us)
- As of Sunday, the Mosquito Fire was approaching 75,000 acres burned and was 34% contained. Thankfully, rain arrived Sunday and is expected to continue and get heavier at least through today. "But southwest wind is expected to pick up to 24-28 mph over the ridges,” according to the Sunday incident update, which could impede the firefighting effort. Unfortunately, 78 structures have been destroyed by the fire so far, including structures in Michigan Bluff, Foresthill and Volcanoville. (Gold Country Media)
- Harry Potter and Hogwarts are going to be back on Garland in the Westpark neighborhood for Halloween! This is a daily immersive video and light show that allows you to step into the magical world of Harry Potter. The show will start on October 28 and run through Halloween night. "Come out on Halloween and watch the whole street come alive with themes of Harry Potter, Ghostbusters and pirates! You will not want to miss it," the Facebook page said. (Facebook)
- Construction on Lincoln Boulevard Phase 3 in Lincoln is expected to begin today. The construction zones are at the 1st Street and 5th Street intersections west of Lincoln Boulevard. Construction is estimated to carry on through January/February 2023. Motorists are advised to expect traffic delays in the area. If you have questions about the project you can contact Project Manager Rob Hannah at 916-481-6792 with Sierra National Construction. (lincolnca.gov)
