  1. It's gonna rain this weekend (maybe)! The National Weather Service posted its updated rain potential for this weekend. There's a 35% chance that Sacramento will get at least .1 inches and a 45% chance in Grass Valley. The best chance for rain is overnight into Sunday, NWS said. Rain will likely pass through the Valley around 3 a.m. Sunday and 8 a.m. Sunday in the Sierra. (FOX40)
  2. The long-anticipated Costco project in Loomis is now under the microscope again after a court ruling. Contention and controversy for the project began early on when the city of Rocklin was not welcoming of the neighboring project due to traffic, environmental and zoning concerns. After a long court battle a Placer County Superior Court Judge recently determined the town of Loomis had not violated any environmental or traffic ordinances., however, the Court also found that Loomis had failed to rezone certain parcels of the project that violated the town's own zoning code. Acknowledging that there is more work to be done, Loomis Town Manager Sean Rabe said "Make no mistake — this ruling is a win for Loomis and a win for Costco." (KCRA3)
  3. Do you need a bike helmet or know somebody that does? Join the City of Roseville at a special drive-thru BikeFest. Simply drive up and receive free helmets for your family and goodie bags for the kids. Just driving through enters you in an auction for a free bike. Download the Passport to BikeFest and complete the challenges for an extra entry into the bike giveaway. (City of Roseville)
  4. A Newcastle man has been arrested on suspicion of arson. Cal Fire reported that Levi Yurie Allen Smith, 34, caused a fire that started near a walking trail behind 1910 Auburn Folsom Road in Newcastle on Sept. 14. After an investigation Smith admitted to starting the fire in dry grass while smoking. Smith remained in custody Friday with bail of $25,000. (Gold Country Media)
  5. Temporary non-commercial signs on private property will have a maximum size limitation of 16 square feet under an amendment to Title 17 of the Rocklin Municipal Code that City Council moved forward at Tuesday’s session. The amendment also clarifies where signs can be located on a property. The amended ordinance specifies that temporary non-commercial signs are permitted in all zone districts without a sign permit but can’t be located on a public right-of-way or on publicly-owned property.
