  1. A Roseville child remained in critical condition as of yesterday after a hit-and-run accident in the 2500 block of Hayden Parkway on Tuesday night. The driver of the vehicle initially fled the scene before being identified and contacted by Roseville Police. The driver is cooperating as authorities continue to investigate the specifics of the case. Driving under the influence is not suspected at this time. (Sacramento Bee)
  2. Kudos to our civic-minded neighbors out in a new Fiddyment Farm neighborhood who gave the Roseville Police Athletic League (RPAL) a boost in the form of a $4,101 donation. The neighborhood selected RPAL as the recipient of their 4th of July celebration charitable effort this year. The funds will help support RPAL's youth outreach programs like its homework club, cross-fit kids, creative arts and summer activities. (Roseville What's Happening)
  3. Cal Expo has the cure for the "no State Fair this year" blues. Butler Amusements Summer Carnival will bring a scaled-down version of state fair fun to the Cal Expo grounds in Sacramento starting tomorrow through July 25. The carnival features over 30 mechanical rides, game arcades, fair-style food concessions and more. Admission is $5, with children under 36 inches tall free. Unlimited ride wristbands will be available and parking is $10. (CalExpoStateFair.com)
  4. Placer Recycles, an outreach program from the Materials Recovery Facility (the "Murf") serving Western Placer County, wants you to get the most out of your trash. There has been a spotlight recently on the role food waste plays in contaminating recyclable items and how composting helps our trash "reach its highest potential." Be part of the solution by checking out the information on its website and register to win a free compost bin! (PlacerRecycles.com)
  5. Our City of Roseville Parks and Recreation Department is celebrating National Parks and Recreation Month by asking Roseville residents to share their favorite parks-related stories, past and present, on the department's social media (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram). A quick peek at the Facebook page this morning revealed a bunch of wonderful memories already posted. Be sure to use the #OurParkAndRecStory when adding your post. (City of Roseville)
