Here are the top stories in Roseville today:
- William Jessup University Crossroads Café is partnering with Chefs Against Hunger to help feed the food-insecure. Repurposing restaurant food that would have gone to waste was the idea of chef Eric Sunstrom, a longtime employee of the cafe. Chefs Against Hunger uses a wholesale distribution company to repackage the cafe's unused food and send it to those in need. (Gold Country Media)
- After the 2020 Census, political districts were redrawn, and Placer County now sits in the third U.S. congressional district. It's a new district, so it has no incumbent. Two candidates are vying for your vote: Kermit Jones and Kevin Kiley. The Auburn Journal reached out to the candidates to ask them a few questions that may help you make your decision come election day. (The Auburn Journal)
- Did you know that the Roseville Police Department has a program to keep a watch on your house while you're away on vacation? It's true! And it could come in handy this holiday season. Volunteers with the Citizens On Patrol program will go by your house at random times to make sure everything looks OK. If anything looks out of the ordinary, they'll refer it to the Roseville Police. Enroll in Vacation House Check program here.
- Roseville is getting mighty popular and has lots of planned development, and so do the surrounding areas! Folsom is growing by leaps and bounds and now, a 260-home development in Citrus Heights is almost sold out, just 18 months after its first model home was opened to the public. Mitchell Village prices range from the $460,000s to more than $600,000, and the development will have lots of trails, parks and green spaces. Only about 20 houses remain unsold at this time.
