Ches reported that $1,100 of the amount raised came from ticket sales and $1,400 resulted from donations.
Becca Bettis, program director for The Soldiers Project/Sacramento and Greater Placer, praised the St. Clare Knights of Columbus and the Sunday morning diners for their enthusiastic participation.
“What a great event!” she said, expressing appreciation for the significant donation raised. “The money is fantastic, but more importantly getting the word out on both of our organizations, having positive recognition – that’s what makes it all worthwhile.”
Founded locally in 2008, TSP is a non-profit organization that provides free psychotherapy to active-duty military members and veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and their families. TSP’s volunteer therapists – nearly 50 of them working in an eight-county region – focus on the treatment of post-traumatic stress and the symptoms of traumatic brain injury, problems that can arise long after veterans leave the service and come home.
One of the 258 diners who attended Sunday’s pancake breakfast was Assemblywoman Beth Gaines, R-Rocklin, who stopped in for a visit with her field representative Jeff Short. Gaines praised the Knights of Columbus for recognizing the great work being accomplished by The Soldiers Project.
