Knights of Columbus pancake breakfast to raise funds for local branch of The Soldiers Project

ROSEVILLE – Nothing could be
more red, white and blue than an all-American pancake breakfast that honors
dear old dad, celebrates Flag Day and
raises money for a patriotic cause.
The
Soldiers Project/Sacramento and Greater Placer will benefit from the event, set
for Sunday, June 16, hosted by the Knights of Columbus at St. Clare Catholic
Church, 1950 Junction Blvd.,
in Roseville.
Founded
locally in 2008, TSP is a non-profit organization that provides free psychotherapy
to active-duty military members and veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and their families.
TSP’s volunteer therapists – nearly 50 of them working in an eight-county
region – focus on the treatment of post-traumatic stress and the symptoms of
traumatic brain injury, problems that can arise long after veterans leave the
service and come home.
“We
feel a serious obligation to the men and women who have returned from
deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan,”
said program director Becca Bettis. “Remember – they are volunteers, not
draftees, and if we don’t make them whole, both mentally and physically, what
does that say about us as a nation?”
On
June 16 the Knights of Columbus will be cooking up much more than just
pancakes. The menu for the event, set for 8-11 a.m., will include deluxe
pancakes, eggs, sausage, country potatoes, country biscuits and gravy, orange
juice, fruit cocktail, coffee and tea.
The
pancake breakfast is bargain priced at just $8 for adults and $3 for children
under 12 years of age. The meal will be free of charge to disabled veterans and
active-duty military in uniform.
