Luckily, we should get a little relief today from the crazy heat of the past two days. Highs are expected in the 97 to 100 range, cooling down at night to the low 60s. Those light breezes will continue to save us some grief and humidity should be around 30%. The high UV index wants to remind you that sunscreen is your friend.
Today’s Top 5 Stories You Need to Know About:
- City of Roseville Utilities will resume disconnections for non-payment soon. If you are behind on your balance, you can call 916-774-5300 to work out a payment plan. (CoRU)
- Police are looking for potential victims of a man accused of lewd acts in front of women shopping in Roseville area stores. The suspect has been identified by police but is not currently in custody. Contact the Roseville Police if you have information about this man. (SB)
- Folsom Lake is responding to the drought conditions in California this year by closing 9 of its 13 boat ramps and instituting a speed limit of 5 mph for boats. The water level is at an historic low – down about 67 feet below average for this year - with newly exposed rocks and trees creating an increased risk for boat damage and capsizing. (ABC)
- One man was pulled from the American River just after 6:00pm on Sunday, May 30, after being underwater for several minutes, according to the Sacramento Fire Dept. He was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. Even though water levels are low this year, rivers and creeks can still be running fast and cold, dangerous to even the most capable swimmers. Check out the water safety guidelines from Cal Fire at (PCG).
- The Placer County Board of Supervisors is accepting applications from civic-minded youth, age 14-18, to serve on the Placer Youth Commission. The PYC advises the PCBS on issues impacting local youth and “promotes and provides service opportunities that encourage youth to be actively engaged members of their community.” Applications are due June 9. About me
My name is Kelly Mays Risse, and I have lived in Roseville just about all my life. I graduated from Roseville High School majored in Journalism at CSU Sacramento. If you recognize me, it may be from St. Clare Church, where I worked the past 10 years. Or maybe from the myriad activities my husband and I have been part of while raising our three boys here. I have watched Roseville grow from a cheerful little railroad town to a large and diverse city. I love where we live, from the hiking trails to the hip new restaurants, and the people who live here. I am excited to bring the highlights to you!
