Here are the top stories today in Roseville:
- A PG&E substation near the Roseville Galleria caught fire early Thursday morning, interrupting power to about 5,000 Rocklin and Lincoln residents. The outage lasted about 2 hours. According to a Roseville Electric spokesperson, the fire was contained to the PG&E substation and did not come through into the Roseville Electric substation, so Roseville residents were not impacted. (Gold Country Media)
- The Citrus Heights City Council will consider whether to say sayonara to 12 lots on Sayonara Drive, designating them "surplus property" and setting the stage for land transfer. The intention is to transfer eight of those parcels to Habitat for Humanity to build low income housing and the other four parcels to the water district to expand groundwater wells. (Citrus Heights Sentinel)
- Maybe, if you have marijuana, cocaine and a pound of meth in your car, don't speed. That's the lesson one driver learned in Rocklin Wednesday when he was pulled over for speeding near Pacific Street and Midas Avenue. The driver, 53-year-old Sacramento resident Tuan Nguyen, was arrested and is facing numerous charges. (CBS Sacramento)
- I'm happy to say that, even with the drought conditions, whitewater rafting will be in full swing this year! According to the Placer County Water Agency "through prudent management of MFP (Middle Fork American River Project) reservoirs by PCWA there is adequate storage to support boating recreation this summer without affecting customer’s water supply or hydroelectric energy production of the MFP." (Roseville Today)
- It's not a bad problem to have. The City of Rocklin has accepted the dedication of more park property than it can afford to develop. Because of this, the Rocklin City Council voted Tuesday to update parks and recreation development impact fees for the first time in two decades. Fees will be calculated based on unit size ranges in square feet. (Roseville Press Tribune)
