Here are the top stories today in Roseville:
- I have to tell you that I think Spongebob Squarepants is possibly the most inspired name ever for a cartoon… but my admiration stops there. Regardless, I'm up for going to see The Spongebob Musical at Sutter Street in Folsom, especially since Sac Magazine liked it so much they highlighted it in their publication. "The live-action take on TV's hole-y underwater creature debuts Saturday, Nov. 12, and will be staged at 1 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays through Nov. 27." (Sacramento Magazine)
- The City of Lincoln will have a DUI checkpoint "at an undisclosed location within city limits" on November 18, according to Lincoln police. The checkpoint will run from 7:00 p.m. until midnight. Police remind citizens that driving under the influence is not just drunk driving. Prescription medication and some over the counter medication can also impair the ability to drive. (KTXL FOX 40 Sacramento)
- Roseville Fire responded to a business in Roseville on Thursday and their quick actions kept the flames from spreading to other, nearby businesses. According to Roseville Fire social media "The quick action of the truck company as well as the additional responding firefighters saved adjoining businesses and confined the fire to the area of origin." (KTXL FOX 40 Sacramento)
- A newly hired Placer County Sheriff's deputy was arrested on Saturday after allegedly being over the legal limit for alcohol while on duty. Allahno Hughes responded to a call for service Saturday morning and when he arrived in a marked patrol car, there was a suspicion that he might be under the influence. "The California Highway Patrol was called in to conduct a field sobriety test and breathalyzer results revealed Hughes had a blood alcohol level of 0.13%, according to authorities." Hughes has subsequently been relieved of his duties, having been released from his probationary employment. (KCRA3)
- Placer County's Seniors First has recently received a grant from Meals on Wheels America to address "senior isolation and hunger, to help bridge gaps in the availability of essential nutrition services in Placer County." The $15,000 grant will go to help fund meals for new and existing Seniors First clients. (Roseville Today)
