- Del Oro High's Nathan Pham secured himself a place among the National Merit Scholarship finalists. The young man looks to be a great candidate for a scholarship. "Pham has volunteered hundreds of hours to educate others to code, earning him the highest achievement for volunteerism for his age group: the Gold President's Volunteer Service Award." In addition, he also interned with Hewlett Packard and currently holds a job in an engineering role. Way to go, Nathan! (Gold Country Media)
- During the COVID closures, the skate park at McBean Park in Lincoln was removed, without the knowledge of the City Council. “The prior city manager felt it was a safety risk. It was broken down and repairs had to be made several times,” Lincoln City Councilmember Holly Andreatta said. That didn't sit well with Lincoln resident Max Moon, so he's now working with Councilmember Adreatta and new City Manager Sean Scully on a new skate park. He also started the nonprofit Lincoln Skate Association "to help keep skate and bike amenities in Lincoln." A temporary skate park was already opened and the group hopes to have a permanent one in the next year or two. (Roseville Press Tribune)
- Visit the Placer County Ready Placer Dashboard for all of the updated information about the current storm system. "There are multiple tabs available to view: Current Incidents, Road Conditions, Power Outages, Sandbag Locations, and Placer County Twitter feeds."
- Police searched a Citrus Heights home on February 4 and found a treasure trove of stolen documents and machines used to make fraudulent IDs and checks. Officers estimated more than 70 victims may be in the case. They also uncovered fentanyl and methamphetamine in the home. Two suspects were arrested. (KTXL FOX 40 Sacramento)
