Here are the top five stories in Roseville today:

  1. It's almost time for the Placer County Fair, scheduled for June 23-26! Tickets are now on sale. The fair is open 5-11 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, and noon to 9 p.m. Sunday at 700 Event Center Drive in Roseville. Bring your family and enjoy rides, entertainment and maybe even some deep fried ice cream! Unless you're riding home in grandpa's car, I'd suggested putting the kids on the rides BEFORE you give them the deep fried ice cream. (Roseville Today)
  2. Area residents are invited to come together to honor fallen veteran heroes this Memorial Day at the Roseville Cemetery, 421 Berry Street in Roseville. According to Roseville Cemetery officials, 2,411 fallen veterans are buried throughout the cemetery. The ceremony will begin at 11. The Roseville Community Band will play and Placer County District 1 Supervisor Bonnie Gore will speak at the ceremony. The keynote speaker will be Marine veteran/ Placer County Deputy Sheriff Richard Cervantes. (Gold Country Media)
  3. Eyewear brand Warby Parker opened a new location at the Westfield Galleria at Roseville on Saturday, May 28. The store is Warby Parker’s 25th in California and second in the Sacramento region. Toss on a pair of those glasses to get a really good look at the custom artwork by Noah Woods that also adorns the store. (Sacramento Magazine)
  4. "Placer County Executive Todd Leopold has been placed on paid administrative leave effective immediately," the Board of Supervisors confirmed to KCRA 3 on Friday. It is unclear if this leave is related to the communication that Leopold released acknowledging that he was the driver in the incident that killed Inderkum High School senior Anthony Williams in March. Earlier this month Rocklin Police said Leopold was not at fault and that he would not be charged. Jane Christenson has been appointed to serve as acting county executive. (KCRA3)
  5. The Citrus Heights American Legion post will hold a Memorial Day service at Sylvan Cemetery on Monday, May 30. A veteran's procession will begin at 10:30 followed by a ceremony at 11. There will be a performance by the Folsom Harmony Express choir. Sylvan Cemetery is located at 7401 Auburn Blvd. A Memorial Day concert will be held at 1 p.m. the same day at the Veterans Community Center, located at 6921 Sylvan Rd. (Citrus Heights Sentinel)
