Here are the top five stories in Roseville today:
- From the Roseville Fire Department: "This week your Roseville Firefighters responded to a garage fire in District 8. Our members performed an aggressive fire attack and were able to quickly knockdown the flames, confining the fire to the garage. Roseville Firefighters prioritize not just life safety but property as well. There is true compassion that comes with the salvaging operation performed by our members because we are proud to serve our community and it’s citizens." - Adventure Flight LLC will continue to operate out of the Lincoln airport for the next 30 years, thanks to an agreement with the Lincoln City Council for the operation to continue its lease. Adventure Flight LLC currently operates as a flight school with warbird training. Under its proposed plans, it will initiate the process of obtaining approval from the Federal Aviation Association (FAA) for a charter certificate. According to Lincoln City Manager Sean Scully, this would allow the business to operate regular charter flights out of Lincoln’s airport. It is also proposing to create a space with a restaurant which would include a taphouse and tastings as well as a third floor observation deck. (Gold Country Media)
- A woman was struck and killed Saturday night on Greenback Lane near Walnut Avenue in Orangevale. The driver left the scene and has yet to be found. Cynthia Wright, 56, was pronounced dead at the scene. As of Tuesday, evidence collected at the scene allowed authorities to identify the car as a "dark maroon/brown 2007-2008 Honda Element SC that is likely to have left front corner damage due to the collision with the pedestrian." Anyone with information or who might have seen the Honda is asked to contact the CHP at 9160464-1450 or email tsenter@CHP.CA.GOV. (Gold Country Media)
- City Council Member Scott Alvord posted a master plan for The Long Field Sports Complex that was presented to combined board meeting of the Westpark Neighborhood Association and Fiddyment Farm Neighborhood Association on Tuesday evening. According to Alvord it will be "... ten full length fields at full buildout and twenty junior sized fields. Lots of parking. Includes a fully-accessible park on the north end. Special lighting that won't bleed into neighborhood and they will meet noise ordinance regulations." He also mentioned again that the design has "tons and tons of parking." (Facebook.com) Story updated to correct Mr. Alvord's name. It is "Alvord" not "Alford."
