Here are the top stories in Roseville today:
- Roseville City Council members have approved the new Economic Development Strategy for the city. The Economic Development Strategy is updated every five years. “This is just the guidebook and the strategy that’s going to fund the quality of life,” Councilmember Scott Alvord said about the plan. “I know this is going to be a guiding light in the whole county, actually, because I think we’re the furthest ahead on this kind of documentation.” (Gold Country Media)
- Loomis is getting a Costco! Since 2018 the cities of Rocklin and Loomis have been working to find a path to putting a Costco on the border of the two municipalities. They finally came to an agreement on Thursday. The 155,000 square foot structure will be built at Sierra College Blvd. and Brace Road. Costco agreed to pay Rocklin $3.75 million to mitigate impacts along the roadway. Loomis is expected to reap $1 million in annual sales tax revenue from the business. (KTXL FOX 40 Sacramento)
- Livability has named Roseville the 21st most livable city in the nation. In addition, “Roseville is ranked the number one place to raise a family in California,” said Roseville Councilmember Scott Alvord at Wednesday’s City Council meeting, because of “the amenities, the parks, the nice roads, the libraries and the excellent public safety” the city offers. A complete list of Roseville’s Best Place to Live achievements can be found at https://www.roseville.ca.us/cms/One.aspx?portalId=7964922&pageId=18085228. (Roseville Press Tribune)
- If you're expecting to travel in Loomis in October, better check the roadways first. The town is expecting to do some resurfacing of roadways while the weather holds. Some stretches of road will be completely closed. The resurfacing will be done on various roadways throughout Loomis from Oct. 14 to Oct. 18.
