Here are the top five stories today in Roseville:
- A soft opening began Monday for Restore Hyper Wellness + Cryotherapy at The Fountains at Roseville just in time for a little holiday pampering. This is Restore's second Sacramento-area location, joining a site in Loehmann's Plaza in Arden-Arcade. The franchise chain offers a variety of wellness services, including cryotherapy and IV drip therapy, which is designed to help with hydration. (Sacramento Business Journal)
- The Bear River Bruins made the trip down Interstate 80 on Monday night to play at one of the most unique arenas in the area. The basketball court and hoops at Valley Christian Academy are the same ones the Golden State Warriors played on during their days at the Cow Palace in San Francisco. Bear River responded well to the challenge forcing several turnovers and fighting off multiple late runs to win 74-61, snapping a two-game losing streak. (Gold Country Media)
- Loomis Basin Christmas Basket volunteers braved the rain Dec. 12 to hand out hundreds of gift cards to those in need. The Loomis Basin Christmas Basket committee opted for gift cards only and a drive-through pickup in 2020, which continued this year. $46,113 worth of gift cards were given away this year. (Gold Country Media)
- A sizeable storm recently arrived in Northern California and brought much needed snow and rain to our drought-plagued state and reservoirs. Folsom Lake, a critical water supply to the Sacramento region is among the most depleted reservoirs. It has risen from 22 percent to 44 percent capacity. Cities throughout California have tightened water restrictions in an effort to navigate extreme drought. Communities such as Roseville and Folsom have mandated 20 percent cutbacks. (Roseville Today)
- The Auburn Recreation and Parks District announced Friday it will receive $334,974 in Special District COVID-19 Relief funding from a $100 million allocation in the California State Budget. The district plans to use the funding for several purposes, including deferred maintenance and infrastructure upgrades. The Board of Directors will work with staff and the community in deciding how to allocate the capital. (Auburn Journal)
