If you listen to some gloomy types, you might think the current real estate market in our area is in free fall. Not exactly.
- 25% of sales last month were above the original listing price
- 43% sales in August had more than one offer
- Despite longer sales cycles, inventory is actually down
- The median sale price is down 7% from near-historic highs
Whether buying, selling or investing, in a changing market you need a Realtor with enough local knowledge to turn data into insights that create value for you.

Here are the top stories today in Roseville:
- In 1993, the Roseville Hospital was sold and the proceeds were put into a trust called the Citizens Benefit Fund. A portion of the interest earned each year on that trust goes to fund grants for nonprofits in Roseville, with the purpose of improving Rosevillians' quality of life. The Roseville Grants Advisory Commission reviews requests for this grant money from February to May each year and makes a recommendation to the City Council for funding in June. Applications for grant funding for the 2022-2023 fiscal year will open on December 15. More information can be found at Roseville.ca.us/grants. (Roseville Today)
- Have you visited the Maidu Museum? There are tons of cool things to look at and do there. Starting October 24, though, hours will be changing. It will be open Thursday through Saturday, with public tours available on Saturdays at 10:30 a.m. Admission is required for entry to the museum, but the site trail is free to the public. (Roseville Today)
- Rocklin High School bested Granite Bay in front of a hometown, homecoming crowd last Friday, but it was by no means a runaway. The final score was 21-14 and, according to Rocklin's coach, during the game it was back and forth: "they’ll make an adjustment before we do and we make the adjustment. The kids respond well.... Everybody got better. The fans got a great experience. It’s a good win for our kids' homecoming." (Gold Country Media)
- It's the Auburn Journal's sesquicentennial! They're celebrating with a special edition, 38 pages of significant events and headlines over the past 150 years. If you're a subscriber, you can get an online version. The rest of us will have to track down a print version. It came out this past weekend, so they're out there! (Gold Country Media)

Today in Roseville:
- Kids Eat Free at University of Beer in Roseville and Rocklin. (11:00 AM)
- Come on out to Sierra College to watch the Sierra College Wolverines Women's Soccer team take on Santa Rose Jr. College. (3:30 PM)
- Head over to Chicago Fire at the Palladio in Folsom for the Lone Red Tree paint party. (6:30 PM)
From my notebook:
- Ah, the lazy, hazy, crazy days of fall, right here in Roseville. Check out the picture of this young man hoping for "the big one" on the bank one of our creeks. Looks just about perfect, doesn't it? (Roseville Parks & Recreation via Instagram)
- The West Park Theatre Arts Department is selling these amazing-looking butter braids to help raise funds for their programs. They are accepting orders through October 24. This one looks too good to pass up.
- "Granite Bay High School students are putting on 8 showings of Shakespeare's 'A Midsummer Night's Dream.' Come out and support the arts! Oct 27-29 and Nov 3-5. Tickets here."
You're officially in the loop for today. See you all tomorrow for another update!
