Here are the top stories in Roseville today:

  1. If you thought you saw Spiderman climbing up the outside of the Kaiser Roseville Women's and Children's Center on Thursday, you were not delusional. Several superheroes made a visit to the hospital to lift the spirits of the patients. And the superpower these heroes demonstrated? Window cleaning. Yep, the window washers who dangle and jump from window to window were dressed as superheroes, just to make a child's day (and their own). (ABC10.com KXTV)
  2. JB Brown Fund is a local nonprofit that helps low-income residents achieve their dreams. The fund will be holding an online auction from October 31 - November 3. A list of the auction items is available on the 32 Auction website. All proceeds will benefit JB Brown Fund. (Roseville Today)
  3. Four women descended on the Dick's Sporting Goods in Roseville on Tuesday and allegedly stole $3,000 worth of Nike merchandise. The women were recognized by store employees as the women who had robbed a similar store in Sacramento. Store employees called 911 and Roseville police tracked the getaway vehicle to Citrus Heights, where the arrest was made. The stolen items were returned to the store. (KTXL FOX 40 Sacramento)
  4. Lincoln's McBean Park is getting pickleball courts! The Lincoln City Council voted on a resolution that will turn an unsightly concrete slab in the park into the pickleball courts. We don't know when the courts will be open for public use, but we do know this author will be one of the first in line! (Gold Country Media)
  5. If you like spicy and you like chicken, you're in luck! A Dave's Hot Chicken opened in Folsom yesterday and, yes, it's served "reaper" style! Reaper is the hottest of the hot, but you can get any level of heat your stomach will abide, including "no heat," if that's your gig. This restaurant is, if you'll pardon the pun, on fire! It started as a small pop-up and now has 700 locations. Folsom's is only the second in the greater Sacramento area. (ABC10.com KXTV)

Today in Roseville:

  • George S. “Spanky” Roberts Chapter, Tuskegee Airmen Inc. presents Youth Aviation Program Awareness and Fundraiser Luncheon. The chapter's sponsoring youth ages 11-17 to participate in the Aviation Program and Drone Training! (11:00 AM)
  • Join friends and neighbors "every Saturday through the end of October to enjoy country music on our patio" at Cantina Laredo (7:00 PM)
  • Check in at The Union for Old Roseville's Creepy Crawl Halloween Bar Crawl 2022! Seven different establishments in Old Roseville are participating. (7:00 PM)

From my notebook:

  • Don't miss Roseville's Turkey Trot this Thanksgiving Day! "The 5K/10K course starts and ends in Vernon Street Town Square and we don't care if you run, jog, walk, skip, dance or even crawl over the finish line - just as long as you make it across. Be sure to register early as this event will likely sell out." (Press Release Desk)
  • "All Roseville City School District schools will be closed Monday, October 31, and Tuesday, November 1 for teacher work days." (Roseville City School District via Facebook)
  • "A portion of the Antelope Creek Trail, from Galleria Boulevard to just before Antelope Creek Drive, will be closed Saturday, Nov. 5 and Sunday, Nov. 6, due to a special event. The trail closure and detour will be posted." (City of Roseville, California Government via Facebook)
