  1. The protest staged by Roseville Kaiser Permanente nurses last week may just be the tip of the proverbial iceberg, as evidenced by a vote this week of Kaiser health care workers in California and Oregon authorizing a strike unless their demands are met. The strike would involve nurses, pharmacists, midwives, physical therapists and others in the industry. At the heart of negotiations are working conditions and pay, and how both have been strained by the COVID-19 pandemic. (KCRA 3)
  2. According to Leah Burdick, the Chief Growth Officer at Pride Industries in Roseville, there are about 60 million people with disabilities in our nation. About 70% of them are unemployed. That's were Pride comes in; helping people facing different challenges on their path to employment and independence. Reporter Richard Sharp interviewed Burdick to spotlight some of the services Pride offers as part of National Disability Employment Awareness Month. The interview also features the services that Pride employees contribute to the community. (FOX40)
  3. Did you know that along with the longer hours of darkness, Autumn is the season that sees an increase in package thefts, home burglaries and garage break-ins? Our Roseville Police Public Information Officer, Rob Baquera, has some easy and inexpensive tips to help you keep the lurkers, creepers and porch pirates at bay. Thanks, Rob! (Roseville Today)
  4. As wildfires become a regular part of Northern California summers, studying the economic impacts of the blazes may lead to new approaches in mitigating, fighting and delivering aid in the aftermath of future fires. But solid data on the economic losses suffered by people on the ground is hard to come by. Read about what's being done to study these impacts and how the information can lead to better support systems for the victims. (Comstock Magazine)
