Also, be aware that Placer County has extended the Air Quality Advisory through at least Friday due to unhealthy levels of smoke from the surrounding wildfires. You can check air quality in real time as it evolves throughout the day at https://fire.airnow.gov.

Here are the top stories in Roseville today:

  1. Healthcare workers took their grievances over Kaiser Permanente's COVID-19 employee vaccination mandates to the streets on Monday as they protested near the Roseville campus on Douglas Blvd. Unmoved by the FDA's approval of the Pfizer vaccine that same day, this was the second time this month that the medical employees demonstrated their dismay that they would have to get vaccinated (or receive a exemption) or lose their jobs with Kaiser. (KTXL FOX 40 Sacramento)
  2. Roseville-based The Design Build Co. has filed for voluntary Chapter 7 bankruptcy. According to filing records, the firm owes approximately $1.8 million in debts to more than 100 creditors. At least one client of the homebuilder has filed suit, claiming that the company tried to extract additional money from them to complete a house while knowing the project would never be finished due to the impending filing. (Subscription: Sacramento Business Journal)
  3. It might be time to put away the charcuterie board while the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) investigates a salmonella outbreak linked to Italian style meats such as salami and prosciutto. So far, at least 30 people from 17 states have been stricken with salmonella infections, with 17 of those cases reported in California. The investigation has yet to pinpoint any brands of meat in particular. Check the CDC site for a list of symptoms to look for if you have recently consumed suspect food. (CDC.com and Subscription: The Sacramento Bee)
  4. Are you, like a lot of Californians, having trouble trying to decipher Senate Bill 9 and what effect if could have on California's housing crisis? The measure will change zoning in some single residence neighborhoods to allow for additional building and high density housing. It will be voted on by our State Assembly soon. Check out this informative article to get the scoop. (Capital Public Radio News)
