Here are the top four stories today in Roseville:
- The median price per square foot for a home in Roseville decreased from $350 per square foot in June to $342 per square foot in July. That's $23 less than the median price in Placer County, which is buoyed by North Lake Tahoe where homes are going for a median price of $818 per square foot! (Sacramento Bee via MSN)
- Roseville Police Community Service Officer Kay Sakamoto will be honored with a park dedicated to him. The dedication ceremony will take place on August 20 at 9 a.m. The park is located at 8160 Challis Circle on the far west side. CSO Kay Sakamoto passed away after being hospitalized following a stroke, which occurred while he was on duty on July 27, 2020. He was a dedicated city employee with 13 years service as a Community Service Officer. "Kay is greatly missed. He was a formidable figure in our organization. The City of Roseville and the Roseville Police Department lost a true public servant," according to the Roseville Police Department. (Facebook)
- One of the three people who died in the lightning strike in Washington D.C. on Thursday was a Folsom native. Brooks Lambertson succumbed to his injuries on Friday. Brooks grew up in Folsom and graduated from Vista Del Lago High School, his family confirmed to KCRA 3 on Saturday. Brooks also graduated from California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo and was working as a bank vice president in Los Angeles at the time of his death. He was in Washington D.C. on business. (KCRA3)
- Farron Street in Rocklin will be closed at the Union Pacific railroad tracks from Friday, Aug. 12 through Wednesday, Aug. 17, for track repairs. Motorists needing to access the Johnson-Springview Park neighborhoods can use a detour on Sunset Boulevard and 3rd Street.
