Still hot. Crazy, stupid hot. But hey, it might be one degree cooler than yesterday with the high expected at 109! Get through the day, and you can look forward to a low tonight at 71 degrees. The humidity is staying low at about 20%. Stay chill out there.
Today’s Top 5 Stories You Need to Know About:
- Besides the Excessive Heat Warning that is still in effect, the California Independent System Operator (CAISO) issued a statewide Flex Alert yesterday from 5:00 pm-10:00 pm, the first of 2021. It is uncertain whether another alert will be needed today. Flex Alerts encourage electricity consumers to voluntarily conserve energy during peak times that may overwhelm our energy grid. You can sign up to receive Flex Alert notifications so you can do your part to prevent rolling blackouts this summer. (CAISO)
- Pride flags will not fly on city-own flag poles in Roseville to commemorate June as Pride Month, a decision that was made during a City Council vote on Wednesday. The vote of 4-1, with Councilman Scott Alvord casting the dissenting vote, left many in the chamber’s audience disappointed. The City Council has opted to show support for Pride by instead creating a rainbow colored “We Are Roseville banner.” (SacBee)
- The results of a recent national survey show that Roseville residents are really happy about where they live. The National Community Survey had Roseville ranking in the top 10 in many fields measuring resident satisfaction, and ranking best in the nation in several others. Around 90% of the survey respondents indicated that they were likely to remain in Roseville for the next five years. (RT and Cor)
- Congratulations to Brandon Dacier, Jose Aguilera and Samantha Summers, the Roseville Police Department’s newest members who graduated from the Sacramento City Police Department Academy! (RPD)
- City of Roseville summer swim passes are back! $45 gets you into any of the city’s pools for recreational swim sessions through Labor Day weekend; $105 gets your family of four in. And don’t forget, in honor of its 100th anniversary, Johnson Pool is free to everyone for rec swim and Family Nights all summer long! (CoR)

About me
My name is Kelly Mays Risse, and I have lived in Roseville just about all my life. I graduated from Roseville High School majored in Journalism at CSU Sacramento. If you recognize me, it may be from St. Clare Church, where I worked the past 10 years. Or maybe from the myriad activities my husband and I have been part of while raising our three boys here. I have watched Roseville grow from a cheerful little railroad town to a large and diverse city. I love where we live, from the hiking trails to the hip new restaurants, and the people who live here. I am excited to bring the highlights to you!
