  1. A victim is lucky to be alive after a road rage incident that ended in the arrest of a Rocklin man who was found with a loaded gun and methamphetamine in his possession. At around 5 p.m. on August 31, Roseville police said they received a call from a motorist who said they were on Atlantic Street and a man had just pointed a handgun at them from another vehicle near Tiger Way. Police said that they found Johnathan Davis Duarte, 47, nearby in a vehicle that matched the description the victim had given. A loaded handgun was found underneath his driver’s seat and methamphetamine was found in the vehicle. Duarte now faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon and related weapons and drug charges, according to police. (KTXL FOX 40 Sacramento)

  4. More help is on the way for victims of the Mosquito Fire. The Salvation Army is providing meals at three different sites: Sierra College, 5100 Sierra College Blvd, Rocklin, Green Valley Community Church, 2502 Country Club Dr, Cameron Park and Cameron Park Community Center, 3500 Missouri Flat Rd, Placerville. By calling 1-888-SA-HELP1 or (888) 724-3571 you can find information on how to donate or find out where The Salvation Army is serving. (Roseville Today)
  5. On Tuesday, The Placer County Board of Supervisors approved advance funding for Phase 1 of the Placer Parkway project. The project will connect State Route 65 to State Route 70/99 in south Sutter County which should alleviate some of the congestion in South Placer County. “Today, Interstate 80 is really the spine to the transportation system for Placer County,” said Ken Grehm, director of Placer County Public Works. “Placer Parkway will provide an alternative east-west connector and also to help alleviate some of the traffic concerns on Highway 65, kind of in the Roseville/Rocklin area down to the 80/65 interchange. So this alternative is very important in the long-term transportation planning prospects for our county.” The board approved the advance funding in a unanimous vote. (Gold Country Media)
