It's officially the first day of Fall so we can expect to enjoy a nice cool, blustery ... er, 93 degree high today. The low should reach 60 tonight. The good news is that the long-term forecast predicts only three more days of 90-degree temps as Summer 2021 hits the road. Winds are staying light at 5-10 mph and humidity is expected to be about 29% during the day.
Here are the top stories in Roseville today:
- The first day of Fall is a reminder that it's time to winterize the yard. Our friends at the Regional Water Authority want to help you out with Mulch Mayhem this Saturday from 8:00 am to noon at the Sierra College overflow lot in Rocklin. Come pick up some FREE mulch as long as supplies last. Mulch adds nutrients to the soil and slows evaporation around plants, saving our much needed water in this drought year. (BeWaterSmart.info)
- If you are a Rosevillian who gets around town on two wheels, the City of Roseville needs your help to renew its status as a Bicycle Friendly Community. Take the linked survey from the League of American Bicyclists to relay your experiences and perceptions of what it's like to get around Roseville by bicycle. (City of Roseville)
- Daniel Brown of TOP-Notch Soccer contacted The Roseville Daily to let it know that the 5-session Fall Season for players of ALL abilities started last week and has room for "many more." Players (age 4 and up) practice with their buddies (age 12 and up) weekly from 5:00 pm-6:00 pm at Douglas Ranch Park in Granite Bay. The $15 registration covers everything. (High-schoolers: what a great opportunity to get in those service hours!) The next practice is on Friday. Click the link to register. (Press Release)
- New regulations for "mega events" from the California Department of Public Health go into effect today as the state continues to grapple with COVID-19. These events are defined as any indoor event having more than 1,000 people or any outdoor event with more than 10,000 people. Attendees of these venues will need to provide either proof of full vaccination or of a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of the event. (KCRA 3)
- Cal Fire has determined that the Bridge Fire that sparked up near the Foresthill Bridge in Auburn was caused by arson. The blaze ignited on September 5th and was contained on September 15. Cal Fire and Placer County Fire investigators urge anyone with information about the Bridge Fire to call the Cal Fire Arson Hotline at (800) 468-4408. Calls are anonymous. (Gold Country Media)

Today in Roseville:
- Take a night off from cooking tonight and head over to Krush Burger on Galleria Blvd. 15% of your deliriously delicious order will support the Roseville High School Parents Club. Just mention you are with the RHSPC. So yes, we would like fries with that. 4:00 pm-7:30 pm
- Tonight you can be a “A Force for Good” by helping the Placer Food Bank build up its emergency food stores. And you can do it without leaving your living room. This resource has been crucial to many Placer County fire victims during this 2021 fire season. The Future 50 Project virtual program will feature compelling speakers, honors for community partners and fund-a-need opportunities. 7:00 pm-8:00 pm
- Don't sit at home tonight! Be neighborly and get over to Nela Luken Park for some live music, great food and a chance for the whole family to get creative with Chalk the Walk. Chalk will be provided. 4:30 pm-7:00 pm
- Feeling flabby? Why not try out this free Body Boost Class tonight at Central Park! Especially for moms, this class combines cardio, strength training, core work and meditation. Register ahead online. 7:00 pm-8:00 pm
- The California Capital Airshow will roar into Mather Airport in Sacramento this Friday for three days of jaw-dropping, ear-splitting thrills. Due to pandemic safety guidelines, the show will operate a little differently this year. Crowds will experience the show drive-in style from their parked vehicle with piped in audio. Tickets are very limited this year to keep crowds down. Many VIP options are sold out, but general admission tickets are still up for grabs. Get your tickets ASAP as none will be sold at the event! Friday, Saturday, Sunday
