Jatala said the majority of Roseville parks are named after local public figures, but they don’t have to be. Parks can also reflect a location or major natural features in the area, according to the city’s park-naming criteria.

The park is currently referenced by its site, W-53, and will be located on Nettleton Drive, near Pleasant Grove Boulevard and Fiddyment Road. Included in the park plan are two tennis courts and youth baseball fields, a concrete ping-pong table, half-court for basketball, a children’s play area and restrooms. The plan also includes off-leash, fenced-in dog areas – one for small dogs and another for large dogs.

The park design has been presented to the parks and recreation commission, but is in need of a name.

The city’s park naming subcommittee will review all name suggestions and make recommendations to the parks and recreation commission and city council. Jatala said the subcommittee includes two councilmembers and three parks and recreation committee members. Roseville City Council gives the final approval for all park names.
