Here are the top stories in Roseville today:
- If your usual route takes you down Baseline Road between Fiddyment Road and Watt Avenue, you're going to have to make an alternate plan from 9 a.m. Thursday until 7 a.m. Sunday morning. That's because Baseline Road will temporarily close due to construction by a private developer. (Press Release Desk)
- Alexander Pigee set fire to the Roseville Galleria 12 years ago, causing $55 million in damage. He's now in a halfway house and he's telling his story. He believes, were it not for the fire that he set, he would be dead today. He says he had asked for help with his struggles with mental illness, but nobody was paying attention. That's when he decided to start the fire, either to get someone's attention or to die in the blaze. He's speaking out on how the prison system can better help people like himself. (CBS News)
- Placer County reminds you that now is the time to clean up your defensible space. The county wants you to know about its chipper program that you can use to dispose of dead wood and trees around your property. "For $80 / hour, residents can utilize a crew that will chip and broadcast piled vegetation. Cost-share fees may be waived for landowners who meet the 'Very Low Limit' as defined by the Placer County Department of Housing and Urban Development." (placer.ca.gov)
