- A group of new CHP cadets joined the 'Walk Like MADD' event in Roseville yesterday. They raised over $40,000 for the cause, but, more than that, they were able to interact with victims and victims' families. That can be really motivating for these young recruits as they go out and try to take the DUI drivers off the streets. (ABC10.com KXTV)
- Attention, Roseville! Starting November 1, watering days change from two days per week to one day per week. Everyone, both commercial and residential, may water their lawns and landscape on Mondays, only, either before 10:00 a.m. or after 8:00 p.m. But, before you water, check to make sure your landscaping really needs it. We're going into wetter months, so you may be able to skip it altogether. (Nextdoor)
- The Placer County Board of Supervisors proclaimed October as PlacerGROWN month at their board meeting on October 11. “The fall harvest season in Placer County is always a special time of year as we celebrate the exceptional food and drink produced at our local farms, breweries and wineries all month long,” said Placer County Agriculture Commissioner Josh Huntsinger. And, while we're celebrating, let's celebrate that, in 2021, for the first time ever the value of crops harvested in Placer County topped $100 million dollars! That's a 10% growth over 2020. Placer County is both a great place to live and a great place to eat! (placer.ca.gov)
- The city of Rocklin has adopted a resolution that would allow folks without any experience to take a 16-week program at Sierra College and immediately become eligible for their Firefighter 1 certificate and consideration in the Rocklin Fire Department's applicant pool. (Gold Country Media)
- You know about Back Bistro in Folsom, but now the owners are taking on a new venture. The business is called “24 Hour Kitchens” and the idea is that they will rent out space in a commercial kitchen to caterers, meal prep chefs, food trucks and the like who need space but can’t afford the overhead of a full commercial kitchen. “We know how hard and how expensive it is to open a restaurant. 24 Hour Kitchens is a place that will grow the entrepreneurial spirit,” said Jeff Back. The kitchen will be in the old Willow Café & Sweetery space. Another 24 Hour Kitchens space is expected to open in Fair Oaks Pointe in November. (ABC10.com KXTV)
