Here are the top stories today in Roseville:

  1. The Sacramento Kings and Kaiser Permanente made a winning team as they came together to refinish the basketball court at Royer Park. Besides a much needed resurfacing, the court got come creative artwork from local artists Eric Nodora and the Illuminaries that really make it stand out. (Gold Country Media)
  2. The City of Roseville is studying and seeking input on what could be a productive way to balance commercial development with the city’s need for affordable housing. Commercial linkage fees are not a new idea in California. They are fees assessed on new non-residential buildings to create a revenue stream for a specific purpose – in this case, affordable housing. You can study the informational materials provided and direct your input to Mike Isom, Roseville’s Development Services Director. (City of Roseville)
  3. Sierra College was recognized on Wednesday by the Campaign for College Opportunity as a 2021 Champion of Higher Education for Excellence in Transfer. The award lauds the local college as a leader in California in conferring “Associate Degrees for Transfer (ADT), enrolling ADT earners on guaranteed pathways to a bachelor’s degree, and intentionally working to support Latinx and Black students on their path to a degree.” As a former Wolverine, and ADT student who transferred to a university, I proudly say, “Well done, Sierra!” And, by the way, Sierra College is enrolling now for Spring semester 2022. (YubaNet)
  4. Placer County residents are fortunate to have a trained and dedicated team of volunteers that offers practical and emotional assistance to people affected by traumatic events. Placer County Law Enforcement Chaplains are there when difficult and strained situations like traffic fatalities or homicides occur, assisting law enforcement in tending to the survivors. Find out more about this vital resource in this informative article. (Roseville Press Tribune)
  5. The turkey’s not even in the oven yet, but our friends at the City of Roseville want to make sure you have the information you need to “green up” your holiday game. Say “bah humbug!” to overflowing landfills and clogged pipes with all the easy recycling options available around town. (What’s Happening in Roseville)
