Here are the top five stories today in Roseville:
- Nearby residents are champing at the bit for the new Safeway supermarket slated for the West Roseville Marketplace on the northeast corner of Pleasant Grove Boulevard and Fiddyment Road, according to developer Jeffrey Wood. Safeway has owned the site for 20 years but recent development in the area finally made enough financial sense to begin construction. The work could begin as early as this fall, but is most likely to start a year from now. It will take about one year to build the 55,000-square-foot store. (The Business Journals)
- The Maidu Community Center is once again the most FAB-ulous place for seniors to hang out in the 'Ville. It’s where the Fifty and Better Club (FAB) meets for games, exercise and socializing; slowly returning after a break due to the pandemic. Currently the program offers about 20 different activities for its members. Anyone 50 and older can join for only $42 annually. Read on to learn more, and be sure to check out their list of activities – these folks have a lot of fun things going on! (What’s Happening in Roseville)
- Cyrene at Fiddyment looks like your average Roseville neighborhood, but it’s actually one of the newest trends in housing options – a build-to-rent community. The amenities of owning a house plus the freedom of renting appeals to many folks who are leery of the currently unpredictable housing market. This housing model appears to have the best of both options. (ABC 10)
- One Roseville bowler is taking the United States Bowling Congress Open Championships by storm, recently gaining the lead in the Regular All-Events and the Regular Singles standings. Sam Cantrell, a former All-American at Grand View University in Iowa, talks about his strategy in this interview. When back here at home, Cantrell is the owner of the A+ Pro Shop inside Steve Cook’s Fireside Lanes in Citrus Heights. (Roseville Press Tribune)
