Here are the top five stories today in Roseville:
- New casual dining opportunities are on the horizon for hungry Rosevillians with two new eateries opening in 2022. Smashburger is set for a grand opening of its new location in the Campus Oaks Town Center (Blue Oaks and Woodcreek Oaks Boulevards) on Wednesday, January 7th, but you can get some of that gastronomic goodness sooner at its soft opening on the 5th. (Subscription: Sacramento Business Journal) And it looks like West Coast Sourdough will open a sandwich shop in Creekside Town Center, across from the Galleria, where the Starbucks used to be. It has filed remodel plans with the City of Roseville for the space. (Subscription: Sacramento Business Journal)
- City of Roseville offices, Utilities and Public Transit services will have different schedules between today and Monday, January 3rd. Some divisions may be closed during this holiday week. Check out the city's webpage for this week’s hours. (City of Roseville)
- Several major roadways into the Tahoe Basin were closed to through traffic after the weekend storm dumped tons of snow on the Sierra, causing road blockages from downed trees and powerlines. The snow line dipped down as far as Auburn and the total amount of snowfall in the region broke the record for December, with five days still remaining in the month. (Gold Country Media)
- As the overnight low temperatures get close to freezing (32 degrees), there are easy steps you can take to make sure your household is prepared. Our friends at Roseville Today have a handy checklist for us covering common cold weather calamaties like freezing water pipes and energy outages. (Roseville Today)
- If you renewed your California Driver’s License or Identification Card between March 2020 and July 2021, the deadline to upgrade to a REAL ID for free is approaching with the end of the year. December 31st is the last day to get this more secure form of identification free of charge. All Californians over the age of 18 will need this upgraded ID by March of 2023 if they want to catch a flight or enter any federal government facility. Check out the required documentation and get over to the Department of Motor Vehicles! (Patch.com)
