  1. Homes in the Blue Oaks and Woodcreek Oaks areas are going to get new utility meters. The meters will be able to wirelessly transmit usage data. Most homeowners can opt out without cost during the pilot phase, but eventually they'll need to pay a fee if they don't want to be part of the program. (ABC10.com KXTV)
  2. Citrus Heights is looking at expanding the city borders. The city will look at the financial impact of doing so, as well as conduct outreach before finalizing a decision. In order to expand, the city would have to annex four areas just outside of the borders of the city, including the Roseville Point area. (Citrus Heights Sentinel)
  3. Placer County Animal Services is looking into what seems to be a suspicious death of some 13 cats and one hawk. All were found in the same area by a utility worker and appeared to have all died within the past week "under suspicious circumstances." “We are hoping that a community member may have additional information that may help with the investigation,” said Animal Services program manager Katie Ingram. “This is a horrific case and we’re looking for anything that can help identify potential suspects.” (Roseville Today)
  4. Low- and medium-income Roseville households can take advantage of free tax preparation "in cooperation with the IRS and United Way, through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program." Folks earning up to $65,000 annually are eligible for the program. On-site locations are in Rocklin and Auburn, or drop-off locations throughout the area. (Roseville Today)
  5. Roseville Police caught up with a hit-and-run driver on Saturday, after the man took them on a high speed chase that ended up at his home. It didn't take long for a K9 officer to find him and flush him out of his neighbor's yard. "The suspect showed signs of being intoxicated, and officers found an open can of alcoholic seltzer in his car." So, this guy drank, drove, took cops on a high-speed chase and then thought it was a good idea to park in his own driveway? Not the brightest of criminals!
