Here are the top stories in Roseville today:
- Are you in need of 4 gallons of chopped garlic and a tractor tire? You may be in luck! According to documents filed with the City of Roseville, a new Costco location may be coming to the northwest corner of Baseline Road and Fiddyment Road. “An application from Costco was submitted to the City of Roseville. We don’t have information or details on the timeline or schedule. But we are excited at the prospect of a new Costco. This is another testament to Roseville’s strong retail market and community demand," Roseville's Economic Development Director Melissa Anguiano said in a statement. This would be the second Costco location in Roseville. Wow. We sure do need a lot of garlic and tractor tires around here! (ABC10.com KXTV)
- Join your neighbors for the latest Adopt-A-Creek cleanup in Roseville. This time it's Secret Ravine, scheduled for this Saturday, October 1. According to Roseville Today the activity "is part of a series of planned watershed restoration projects throughout the City annually during the months of Oct., Nov., Feb., Mar., and Apr." If you're interested in volunteering, check-in will be behind the United Artists Theater on Sunrise. Make sure to wear something that you don't mind getting wet and grubby. (Roseville Today)
- Placer County is about to prosecute its very first case accusing a dealer of murder in a fentanyl-related death. The victim in the case was a 20-year-old Roseville man, Kade Webb. Earlier this year, the Placer County DA successfully prosecuted a manslaughter case in the death of Zachary Didier, also of Roseville. In that case, the dealer got 17 years in prison, but this is the first time the DA has decided he has a case to go after a dealer for murder. (ABC10.com KXTV)
- Police believe speed was a factor in a solo vehicle accident that knocked out power to part of Loomis on Tuesday. A woman in her mid-50s was traveling on Horseshoe Bar Road when she lost control of the vehicle and slammed into a fire hydrant, shearing off the hydrant, which then hit a power pole. According to CHP, the woman was extracted uninjured from the vehicle by the South Placer Fire District. PG&E's outage map showed that the crash impacted about 175 customers. (KTXL FOX 40 Sacramento)
- NASCAR is lighting up the All American Speedway in Roseville this weekend for the ARCA Menards Series West, Napa Auto Parts 150. Head out to the speedway on October 1 to see the live action, or catch it on your screen at home, as this will be a nationally televised event. According to Gold Country Media, "The speedway will honor first responders who were part of the local firefighting efforts. They helped reopen the fairgrounds for this annual NASCAR tradition in Roseville." Drivers, start your engines! (Gold Country Media)

From my notebook:
- "Take a Historic Walking Tour with the Roseville Historical Society! Upcoming tours take place October 8, October 24 and November 12. Tours begin and end at the Carnegie Museum." (Roseville Public Library via Facebook)
- There are lots of fun events coming up next door in Lincoln for the rest of the year! Head over for "Kick the Dust Up" line dancing presented by the Downtown Association in October, or wait until December when you can take part in the Hometown Christmas Parade, or visit Santa and The Grinch!
- I know this one is all the way down 80 in Old Sac, but it's worth the drive — and it sells out in just days every year, so I wanted to let y'all in on it. Tickets went on sale for the Polar Express Train Ride yesterday. This event is put on by the California Railroad Museum and it's loads of fun for the whole family.
Thanks for following along and staying informed! See you tomorrow for another update.
