Here are the top five stories today in Roseville:

  1. The city of Roseville has begun the process of planning and designing what is expected to be Roseville’s largest universally accessible playground, accessible to children of all abilities. Residents of Roseville are invited to attend a planning session for the playground on Thursday, July 7 at Maidu Community Center. Kids will have one room where they can draw and talk about what they would like to see at the park and their parents will be in another room discussing the needs of their children in relation to the new park. (Roseville Today)
  2. Rocklin High School alum Tim Tollefson enters this weekend's Western States Endurance Run as one of four favorites to win the 100 mile challenge. “I think that if I focus on really taking care of what I need to and prioritizing my individual needs, I'm capable of a pretty incredible performance," Tollefson said. One hundred miles is awfully gruelling. Why does he do it? "It's about testing my personal limits," he said. (Gold Country Media)
  3. Baseline Road between Fiddyment Road and Watt Avenue will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on June 27 - July 1 for road work being completed by a private developer. Detours will use Walerga Road, PFE Road,ñ and Watt Avenue. Residents will be allowed entry to neighborhoods off of Westbrook. (roseville.ca.us)
  4. What a milestone! Roseville's 80th park, The North Hayden Park was dedicated on Thursday morning, even though it has been open for a while now. This pocket park is unique. It's more of an adult park without typical playground equipment. The community designed this one with dual Bocce Ball courts, two covered patios including tall stand-up tables and grass. (Facebook)
  5. The city of Roseville wants you to know that California approved Safe and Sane fireworks are allowed to be sold and used in the city of Roseville in accordance with the Roseville Municipal Code. They are illegal in the unincorporated areas of Placer County, including the community of Granite Bay. Any firework that flies in the air, darts across the ground or explodes is considered illegal in California. If it doesn't have the California State Fire Marshal seal on the packaging, it's illegal.
