Today we can expect a fabulous high of 89 degrees! Tonight’s low should be an even more fabulous 60 degrees. Humidity is a little high, averaging around the high 40s to mid-50s.

Today’s Top 5 Stories You Need to Know About:

  • A Roseville park will finally have its dedication at 10:00am this Saturday in honor of a husband-and-wife team, both life-long Roseville residents, who have supported our city over many years, and in many capacities. Pauline and Richard Roccucci have served on the City Council (Pauline currently serves), on several city commissions and boards, and in a variety of volunteer organizations. They have also both served terms as mayor. The Roccucci Park dedication had been delayed by the pandemic. The park is located at 2110 Symphony Avenue. (CoRPR)
  • Weekend shoppers were startled as a man entered the Galleria Mall around 3:00 pm on Sunday and began making threats to businesses and shoppers. Roseville PD immediately responded and detained the man, who RPD stated “appeared to be under the influence.” No weapons were found after a search of the mall. The suspect is currently incarcerated at the Placer County Jail. (RPD)
  • One of the few discount movie theaters left in our area may be gone for good. Regal UA Sunrise, where you could watch second-run movies on the big screen for $3.99, is listed as “permanently closed” on the Sunrise Mall website. Sunrise Mall was entertaining redevelopment plans before COVID-19 shut down the state’s economy in 2020. (SM and SBJ)
  • If you renewed your California Driver’s License by mail during the COVID-19 shutdown, you can now upgrade your license to a Real ID for free. The Department of Motor Vehicles will waive the regular fee so as not to penalize those who had to renew by mail during the pandemic. Real IDs will eventually be required for proof of identity for things like air travel. If you are not sure if your license is a Real ID, check for the stamp “Federal Limits Apply.” (CBS13)
  • Live music is back! Venues have been scrambling to book acts with California’s reopening and finally have some solid lineups scheduled. Are you as excited as I am? Apparently you are, because all these great shows are filling up fast! Check out this link from Roseville Today for a comprehensive list of all the upcoming concerts in our region. (RT)

About me

My name is Kelly Mays Risse, and I have lived in Roseville just about all my life. I graduated from Roseville High School majored in Journalism at CSU Sacramento. If you recognize me, it may be from St. Clare Church, where I worked the past 10 years. Or maybe from the myriad activities my husband and I have been part of while raising our three boys here. I have watched Roseville grow from a cheerful little railroad town to a large and diverse city. I love where we live, from the hiking trails to the hip new restaurants, and the people who live here. I am excited to bring the highlights to you!
