Here are the top stories today in Roseville:
- The Placer County Board of Supervisors has approved a resolution to declare a local health emergency due to the aftermath of the River Fire. Hazardous waste, in the form of debris and ash contaminated with building materials, poses a threat to the watershed that could result in contamination of area food and water supplies if not properly cleaned up. The declaration will allow Placer County to request financial assistance from the State of California, who “has developed a program to aid local jurisdictions in the fire clean-up process,” according to Placer County Assistant Director of Emergency Services Dave Atkinson. (Gold Country Media)
- It seems the trolls are out in force once again, flooding social media with deceptive disinformation leading up to another election. Alarmed at the massive amount of misleading posts regarding the upcoming Gubernatorial Recall Election, over a dozen local civic groups composed a letter to the heads of Facebook, Twitter, Google and YouTube, asking them to step up fact checking efforts similar to those used in the 2020 Presidential Election. - After spending the pandemic shut-down months on a remodel, Nix Taco has opened up its dining room at last. Don't let the festive new look and expanded patio throw you - the menu hasn't changed. That's good news for Nix fanatics. There is, however, a whole new cocktail menu featuring premium spirits for thirsty taco aficionados. (Good Day Sacramento)
- Roseville has a new senior community option as Sonrisa Senior Living opens its doors to new residents. Sonrisa, located at 1031 Roseville Parkway, boasts a variety of alcove, one and two-bedroom floorplans for its 201 independent living units. Interested parties can make an appointment to attend one of the informative lunches or tours offered by calling (916)702-8650. (Yahoo)
- If you are one of the people hoarding toilet paper right now, stop it. Stop it now. (USA Today)
