- Placer County confirmed this week that expanded California Highway Patrol traffic enforcement on county roadways will move forward without a contract. "CHP has informed us they’d prefer to work with us to increase enforcement with new additional officers on county roads without having to contract for additional resources, so we’ll be working with them over the coming weeks to identify what that enforcement will look like,” Placer County Board Chair and District 5 Supervisor Cindy Gustafson said in an email to the Auburn Journal on Thursday. “We’re grateful for their continued collaboration and responsiveness to address safety concerns in our communities.” (Placer Herald)
- There are still no leads in the case of a Roseville woman who was found deceased in her home in April. Officers responded to a 9-1-1 call shortly after midnight April 20 at a duplex on the 500 block of Livoti Avenue in Roseville where they found 41-year-old Erica Marie Wright dead at the scene. The Placer County Sheriff’s Office cannot confirm at this point if the incident was domestic or random, public information officer Angela Musallam said. A cash reward is being offered through Crime Stoppers for any information leading to the suspect’s arrest. Residents can submit their tip anonymously to 1-800-222-7463 or to www.crimealert.org. - You've heard about this phenomenon that is sweeping the country called pickleball, but you're not sure what it is and you've been reluctant to try it. I hear ya! But there's a group in Folsom that wants to welcome you to the sport. They play at Lembi park and you can join a lesson for free once a month. The Folsom Pickleball Club has grown from 4 members to over 400 in the last year! You can come out with a friend or by yourself and pick up a game. So, what are you waiting for? Pop on a pair of shorts and a t-shirt and come out and join the fun! (ABC10)
- Folsom Lake is lookin' good! “Today, we’re better than twice the storage in Folsom than we are at this date last year," said Drew Lessard, Area Manager for the Department of Reclamation, which manages functions at Folsom Lake. As of Thursday morning, the water level on Folsom Lake was close to 449 feet above sea level. That's 108% of the average for the date. Eventually, regular summer releases will need to be made in order for Folsom to meet area water requirements. To help the public have a better understanding of the operations of Folsom Dam, the Bureau of Reclamation has put out a series of frequently asked questions in regards to Folsom Dam. In this article in the Folsom Telegraph, you’ll learn everything from who decides when to release water from the dam to safety protocols in relation to dam releases for recreation activity on the lake.
