Here are the top five stories today in Roseville:

  1. The Placer County CEO, Todd Leopold, has officially been terminated. According to the Placer County Board of Supervisors, they received a Workplace Discrimination and Harassment complaint from a county employee against him on May 25. After a review of the complaint, the board made the decision to terminate Mr. Leopold with cause. "The Board’s decision was in the best interests of the county taxpayers and the county employees following the information revealed during the investigation. The complaint and the Board’s action today are unrelated to the tragic accident involving Leopold and Anthony Williams on March 19." according to their statement. (Placer.ca.gov)
  2. The Roseville Venture Lab is set to open this summer. The money for the Venture Lab comes from non-profit Growth Factory out of Rocklin. "The Growth Factory is a startup accelerator with an accompanying early-stage venture fund that builds and invests in startups primarily focused in FinTech, MedTech and GovTech industries,” according to Roseville city officials. They will also be the first recipient of funds given to the city of Roseville from the American Plan and Rescue Act of 2021. (Gold Country Media)
  3. The All American Speedway celebrated the 68th year of motorsports competition in Roseville with the Edge of Summer on Saturday night. People pumped up those shoulder pads and poofed up their hair for this throwback 80s celebration! And if they had a throwback pic they posted it hoping to win a 4-pack of tickets to the raceway. Did you see any oldies but goodies on Instagram or Facebook? I bet they're still out there. Go take a look! (Gold Country Media)
  4. The annual Summer Sanders swim meet is back at the Roseville Aquatics Complex hosted by California Capital Aquatics June 10- 12! Named after the Roseville native, this is the signature meet of Sierra Nevada Swimming attracting high-caliber youth swimmers from all over the West. The concept for this meet from Summer Sanders and her family when it was first introduced back in 1997 was to give something back to her club team, CCA, as well as to the community of Roseville,” commented Alex Ongaco, former CCA Meet Director. (Roseville Today)
  5. June 3 was National Donut Day. In honor of the day, Yelp published its list of the top 100 donut shops in the nation and BJ Cinnamon in Folsom captured the No. 15 spot! Ten donut shops in California made the list, but BJ Cinnamon and Donut Time along Kiefer Boulevard in Sacramento that came in at No. 30 were the only ones from our area to make the cut. Congrats BJ Cinnamon! (CBS Sacramento)
