Here are the top stories in Roseville today:
- Traffic around the Westfield Galleria and The Fountains Roseville can be brutal, but there's good news for drivers in the area. The Roseville Parkway widening project has been approved to help improve traffic in and around the Westfield Galleria mall. Both eastbound and westbound Roseville Parkway are slated to get an extra lane, widening it from 3 lanes to 4 in each direction. That's the good news. The bad news is that city planners say it won't happen until 2024. So, your holiday shopping is still going to need a healthy dose of patience for a couple more years. (ABC10.com KXTV)
- Stanislaus County sheriff's deputy Chad Lewis, 27, from Turlock, was arrested in Roseville on October 1 on domestic violence charges. The charges stem from an incident at a hotel on East Roseville Parkway. When officers responded to the scene they found a victim with injuries from an assault. Lewis was booked into the South Placer Jail facing multiple charges including inflicting injury on a spouse, assault with a deadly weapon and mayhem. He is ineligible for bail. (KCRA Sacramento)
- The eggplant festival in Loomis was a hit! The Sierra College Jazz Band played for the crowd, but, in my opinion, they were outdone this year by the purple kazoo parade led by Loomis Mayor Jenny Knisley! There was also a chalk art contest, a petting zoo and a fun kid zone to keep everyone busy. According to Knisley, about 4,000 attendees were there Saturday and experienced “the small-town feel. It's more about the community than eggplants." (Gold Country Media)
- According to the Placer County website, the digital library has recently undergone a large expansion. "Thousands of new digital titles, e-books, e-magazines and more are now accessible to Placer County Library cardholders." The Libby Library app now allows you to access digital content from the MarinNet and Peninsula Library Systems! See how, at this county link: (placer.ca.gov)
- Oh, rats! It seems there is a rat infestation problem in the Lincoln Crossing area that homeowners say has been building for some time and they're getting tired of it. One homeowner said he went from seeing an occasional rat to sometimes seeing six in one night. And they are wreaking havoc on cars in the area, too, with rats building nests under the hoods. The issues has been brought to the attention of Lincoln code enforcement officer Tim Jeakel, who says the best defense is having pest control come out to the residences often. He also said residents should pull in the Lincoln Crossing Homeowners Association if the source of the infestation is in the shared landscaping. (Gold Country Media)
