Here are the top five stories today in Roseville:
- A woman who lived at Sun City in Roseville went missing on May 1, 2013. Susan Jacobson’s wallet was found in the Raley’s parking lot in Roseville, but that was one of the only clues law enforcement had to go on for her disappearance. The authorities took it seriously right away, because it was out of character for Susan to worry her family. Two hundred people combed Mahany Park across the street from Raley’s and the open space around Sun City but nothing panned out. Fast forward to 2021 and in May 2021, detectives with the Roseville Police Department reopened the case. They are looking for any lead or any small piece of information to help them with the search. Anyone with information is asked to contact Roseville police. (SFGATE)
- The Placer County Fair was HOT! in more ways than one. Triple digits continued into the last day of the Placer County Fair on Sunday @the Ground in Roseville. That didn't stop families from turning out to enjoy the familiar tradition. The attendance beat all previous years except 2021. There was a cooling center to help people who needed to cool down a bit in an air-conditioned environment and there were tents for shade and misters throughout. And, of course, the ice cream concession stayed busy all day! (KCRA Sacramento)
- Rocklin PD needs your help to locate a missing person, Christopher Voncollenberg who was last seen on June 22 in Rocklin wearing a black polo, blue jeans and black shoes. He drives a white Chevrolet Traverse CA license plate 7LRP042. If you have seen Christopher, or know of his whereabouts, please contact the Rocklin Police Department at (916) 625-5400 and ask for investigations, regarding case 22-173-12. (Facebook)
- Like it wasn't hot enough outside, somebody took a match to some boxes inside the Costco on Auburn Boulevard in Citrus Heights, causing an evacuation on Sunday afternoon. According to the Citrus Height Sentinel " the store’s loss prevention personnel notified police that two individuals had entered the store and were observed selecting 'high-value merchandise.' Upon contact, one of the individuals reportedly set fire to several bleach boxes, prompting the evacuation." A Costco manager on duty Monday morning declined to comment and referred all questions to the company’s corporate office. (Citrus Heights Sentinel)
- Roseville firefighters responded to a vehicle fire on I-80 near the Riverside exit. They performed an aggressive attack on the fire to prevent it spreading to nearby vegetation on the opposite side of a sound barrier wall. See the dramatic video at this link.
