Here are the top stories in Roseville today:

  1. The Placer County Sheriff's Office is warning people about a new scam. People posing as police sergeants are making phone calls to area residents. The Placer County Sheriff's Office wants to get word out to the public, letting them know that no one from their office will ever call asking for money, nor will they call people with warrants for their arrest. If someone calls and says they are from the Sheriff's Office, make note of the phone number and hang up. You can then research the number and call back if it was a legitimate call. (ABC10)
  2. According to the City of Roseville Police Department, "at about 1 p.m. Tuesday, September 27, Roseville Police’s automated license plate reader system alerted dispatch to a stolen vehicle on the move in the vicinity of Riverside Avenue and Cirby Way." The driver tried to flee officers, driving recklessly through the Vineyard neighborhood and ultimately into the Fiddyment Farms area of Roseville. After ditching the vehicle, the pursuit continued on foot. Two 16-year-olds from Sacramento were ultimately arrested and charged with vehicle theft, evading officers, and conspiracy. (City of Roseville, California Police Department via Facebook)
  3. Per the City of Roseville, the Public Hearing Draft Specific Plans for the Commercial Corridors Project are now available for review. A public hearing on the project is planned for October 13. The City Council is tentatively scheduled to review the plan on November 16 for approval. (roseville.ca.us)

According to FOX40, "The Folsom Telegraph first started operations in 1856 out of office space on Sutter Street in Folsom, California. Today, the newspaper is published weekly on Thursdays." It joins the Mountain Democrat out of Placerville, as well as San Jose's Mercury News and The Mountain Messenger from Downieville as California's oldest. (KTXL FOX 40 Sacramento)
