Here are the top stories in Roseville today:
- Placer County declared a local emergency due to the storms that continue to bash us. The long series of storms is likely to deplete local resources. "Placer’s proclamation requests state and federal assistance." Storm and traffic information can be found at https://placer.ca.gov/readyplacerdash. (placer.ca.gov)
- Yesterday, Roseville began operations to "recharge the groundwater basin using specifically designed groundwater wells." Roseville will capture part of the water surplus from Folsom Reservoir from the recent storm. "We intend to use this water beneficially when we experience dry conditions," the city said in a statement. (roseville.ca.us)
- The Roseville location of Claim Jumper was the last one in the Sacramento area and now it, too, has closed its doors. "It’s unclear when it was last open, but users on social media and Yelp began posting about the closure in late December." (Sacramento Bee via MSN)
- If you're keeping track, this is installment 17 of Roseville Today's summary of new California laws that may impact us in Roseville. Today's laws pertain to "firearms, elections, vehicle registration, security services, housing, long-term care insurance and more."
- The Wells Fargo on Douglas Boulevard was robbed on Wednesday. Thankfully, no one was injured in the incident, but the perpetrator is still at large. He fled on foot and police are still on the lookout. (Gold Country Media)
