  1. Sierra College in Rocklin has 18 sports teams, and some of them are pretty good! The women's basketball and men's swimming and diving teams won state titles last year. But if those aren't your sports, you can cheer for teams in everything from water polo to softball. So, grab a couple of friends and a bleacher cushion and head over to Sierra College to get your cheer on this year! (Roseville Press Tribune)
  2. In a huge collision of coincidence, the Placer High basketball team from 1908 will be inducted into the Placer Athletic Hall of Fame this year, at exactly the same time a Placer High grad who now lives in Idaho found and returned the trophy won by the winning team of the 1908 basketball championship! The team will be well represented in the Hall of Fame room by the majestic cup that it won all those years ago. (Auburn Journal)
  3. You know the Comstock Lode, right? It's the big vein of silver that Henry Comstock found near Virginia City. Except that historians now believe that Comstock didn't find the "monster vein." He jumped the claim of the Grosh Brothers, after they each met an untimely demise. The group that figured out the real story is known for doing historical research along trails they use for their ultra-distance runs. The group of historians is as fascinating as the history they uncover! See it all come together at the Auburn Theater, when the group presents “Sierra Tragedy’s Silver Lining: The Grosh Brothers Story” on Sunday, March 5. (Gold Country Media)
  4. Jaxson is an adorable 11-year-old with an infectious smile. We know he has an infectious smile because Make A Wish, along with lots of Roseville heroes, made Jaxson smile on February 23. You see, Jaxson loves big trucks, and everybody from the firefighters to the sand and gravel folks to the dump truck drivers brought out their biggest trucks for Jaxson to take a look at. "He had the most amazing time inspecting every truck that went by and ensured that every one of their horns were working!" Way to go, Jaxson! Way to go, Roseville!
