Here are the top stories today in Roseville:
- Master planned community Placer Ranch is now known as Placer One and they are expected to break ground next month! Per Roseville Today "Positioned as a 'one for all' destination, Placer One celebrates one common spirit, one center of innovation, all in one premiere location." The community, located adjacent to the City of Roseville, will include parks and open spaces, as well as a town center and a university and, of course, since it's in Placer County, there will be a wonderful network of bike trails. (Roseville Today)
- Just because summer is fading into fall, that doesn't mean the end of the farmers markets in Placer! You can still get fresh produce year round at many of the markets in Roseville and beyond. For fall that means wonderful squashes, sweet potatoes and even some sweet, ripe persimmons, if you are lucky. Check out which of the markets are year round at this link from Roseville Today. (Roseville Today)
- Placer Valley Tourism and @The Grounds Roseville have a new CEO! Kim Summers has been around Placer Valley Tourism for a long time, and has even acted as the interim CEO since March of this year, following the sudden death of former CEO David Attaway. “We are very excited for this next chapter of Placer Valley Tourism and @the Grounds, and look forward to the continued success of both organizations,” said Lauryl Hernandez, chair of Placer Valley Tourism and @the Grounds board of directors and general manager of Hyatt Place in Roseville. “Kim is absolutely the right person to lead these organizations to the next level.” Rocklin, Lincoln and Roseville are served by Placer County Tourism, a nonprofit Business Improvement District that helps generate incremental room night stays in hotels by bringing in various conferences and youth and amateur sports events. - It's been a little soggy around here, Roseville, but that has helped our firefighters at the Mosquito Fire immensely. That was also very good news for evacuees, with most returning to their homes in Foresthill, Todd Valley and most fire-affected areas in El Dorado County. By yesterday morning's briefing, just 42 people were still under evacuation order, mostly in Stumpy Meadows. There, crews were busily “trying to hook a corner across the Rubicon (River),” Mosquito Fire Public Information Officer Kevin Tidwell said. Hopefully, it will be mostly knocked down by the time warmer weather returns this weekend. (Gold Country Media)
- Good work by the City of Roseville Police Department helped them nab one of their most wanted on Monday! According to RPD, "At about 6:30 p.m. Monday, September 19, Roseville Police officers stopped a car on southbound Highway 65 near Pleasant Grove Boulevard. They knew the registered owner, Mohamd Anan Liddawai, 34 of Rocklin, was on probation for fraud/identity theft and had an outstanding County felony warrant for probation violation."
Officers detained Liddawai without incident and searched his car, finding stolen credit cards, a cannister of pepper spray and drug paraphernalia. They called the owners of the credit cards and found out that their stolen cards had already been used fraudulently. Another bad guy off the streets thanks to our Roseville PD!
