Here are the top stories today in Roseville:

  1. Quarry Park Adventures in Rocklin is having a Harvest Festival this weekend, October 14-17! Best of all, the fun is free! You'll find fun things for the whole family, including face painting, a scavenger hunt and plenty of fall-themed arts and crafts. And if all of that fun makes you hungry, not to worry! There will be food and drinks for sale, too. Quarry Park will also be open for its regular visitors during that time, so if you want to zipline before you get your face painted, you can do that, too, for the normal price of admission to the park. (Roseville Today)
  2. Placer County continues to have one of the lowest unemployment rates in the state. Since Roseville is the largest city in Placer County, we are driving a lot of that good news. Placer sits at just 2.8% unemployment according to the latest report from the California Economic Development Department, a full percent below neighboring Sacramento County. (Roseville Today)
  3. A suspect has been arrested in an apparent shoplifting incident on Galleria Blvd. on October 5. According to Roseville PD, "investigation revealed that the suspect was well-known to loss prevention staff and was advertising stolen merchandise for sale on her social media account." Roseville PD worked with loss prevention staff at the store on the arrest and according to RPD, because of the great work of the loss prevention staff at most stores in Roseville, and the tight coordination with Roseville PD, "shoplifting in Roseville just isn’t worth it." (City of Roseville, California Police Department via Facebook)
  4. More than 4,000 visitors descended upon Lincoln last Saturday for the 2022 Lincoln Airport Open House Day. They were met with such spectacles as a hot air balloon lift-off and a lineup of World War II War Birds. According to Gold Country Media, "The open house was sponsored by the city of Lincoln and staffed by the local chapter of the Experimental Aircraft Association." By all accounts, the event met and exceeded its goal of showcasing the airport "as an important asset for Lincoln and South Placer." (Gold Country Media)
  5. The Citrus Heights City Council reviewed a change to their road repair strategy in their meeting last month. The current strategy repairs the roads that have the lowest score on the Pavement Condition Index (PCI) first. The issue is that most of these roads are residential and have very low traffic volume. The new plan would prioritize 50% of the funding to more highly utilized roads and arteries, benefitting those of us who travel to Citrus Heights for business and commerce. While no vote was taken, the council members in the room voiced support for the strategy change. (Citrus Heights Sentinel)
