- When Folsom Dam was built in the '50s, several cemeteries were submerged under the water. Authorities moved the remains in those cemeteries and created Mormon Island Cemetery in El Dorado Hills. About half that acreage is being held for future relocations, as needed. (KTXL FOX 40 Sacramento)
- Auburn can claim a shining star — with a Michelin star. Localis Restaurant in Sacramento is the newest recipient of a Michelin star in the city. Head chef and owner Chris Barnum-Dann hails from Auburn and graduated from Placer High School. “There are only 2,089 restaurants on earth with Michelin stars so it is a very, very serious honor,” Barnum-Dann said. Previously, Chris owned and ran Cibo 7 in Roseville. He's also a partner in a restaurant scheduled to open in Auburn called Kindred. (Gold Country Media)
- Placer County Animal Services has an angel and Buddy Magoo has a legacy. Buddy Magoo was a terrier who needed a foster home because the shelter where he was staying made him anxious. Now, Donna and her husband are generous donors to the Placer County Animal Services, helping other dogs like Buddy Magoo live their best lives. (placer.ca.us)
