Rally & Press Conference to call for legislative authors of a new 2014 CA State GMO Food Labeling Bill

What: Rally & Press Conference to call for legislative authors of a new 2014 CA State GMO Food Labeling Bill

When:  Monday January 6, 2014, 9:30 am – Noon

Where:  CA State Capitol, Sacramento – West Steps on 10th & I

Monday, January 6th marks the first day back in the state legislature. Join the California State Grange and a new statewide coalition, Californians For GE Food Labeling, for a rally and press conference at the capitol in Sacramento, to start the year off seeking CA State Senate and Assemblymember authors for a 2014 California State GE Food Labeling Bill
(GE, genetically engineered is also known as GMO or Genetically Modified Organism).
Suit back up, California! Game on! California came so close to passing a GE labeling law (Proposition 37) in 2012. Now we need to let our elected officials know we're back to urge support for introduction of a GE food labeling law for 2014!

Inspired by the massive national momentum the State of California championed in 2012, which created a groundswell leading to passage of GE food labeling bills in Connecticut and Maine,  there are now GE Labeling bills being worked on throughout the USA in 25 states, including active bills in NY, MA, NJ, VT and others.

Opponents of labeling GE foods spent nearly $100 million dollars in 2012-2013 to prevent Americans from knowing which of the foods in our grocery stores are genetically engineered. While industry's well-funded opposition campaigns ultimately prevailed in California, and more recently in Washington state, the reality is that more than 90% of Americans in poll after poll think GE foods should be labeled, and we're not giving up.

Now is the time for California to finish what we started.
Please join us in Sacramento on Monday
and bring a friend!
Send out the word to everyone you know who eats food!
