The temperatures continue to creep up this weekend with highs around 91 and lows around 62 for both Saturday and Sunday. Breezes will stay in the 10-15 mph range. Be sure to savor this weekend; next week is shaping up to be HOT.
Today’s Top 5 Stories You Need to Know About:
- It looks like more changes are coming to the Galleria. Peloton Interactive, an at-home fitness equipment retailer, may take over the 2,761-square-foot space where the Bose store used to be. This would be a huge upgrade in space from the 300-square-foot space they have now. Meanwhile, city records show that Leafy, a Palo Alto based houseplant company, is looking to open a location in the Galleria. (SBJ)
- Recreational programs in Roseville are set to reopen and/or expand hours and services next week with June 15 “reopening” of California. This is great news to all who like to play in our favorite hometown, except the City of Roseville is struggling to quickly hire enough staff to run the programs at pre-pandemic levels. Need a job? Go apply to the City of Roseville Parks and Recreation Dept. (CoR)
- The Walerga Bridge project in West Roseville is now completed! The new bridge spans Dry Creek and includes a bikeway and walkway leading to popular connected trails. The bridge is 14 feet taller than the old bridge, so hopefully no more flooding out during the rainy season. (PC)
- Cal Fire reported that they were “mopping up” the remains of the Intanko Fire outside Wheatland yesterday even as smaller vegetation fires were cropping up in other parts of California. Our fire fighters are being kept busy so far this year with an early fire season caused by drought conditions and breezy days. So far in 2021, we are experiencing a 26% increase in wildfire activity and a 58% increase in acres burned compared to 2020. (CalFire)
- The Hard Rock Casino in Wheatland is adding two more reasons for folks come and play. The new Rocktane Gas & Smoke will be the first Hard Rock brand gas station on the West Coast. Wild Card members will get gas discounts and it will have the region’s only drive-through smoke shop. The Casino is also adding a 2,500-seat indoor venue for hosting meetings, trade shows, boxing, MMA and other events. (HR)

About me
My name is Kelly Mays Risse, and I have lived in Roseville just about all my life. I graduated from Roseville High School majored in Journalism at CSU Sacramento. If you recognize me, it may be from St. Clare Church, where I worked the past 10 years. Or maybe from the myriad activities my husband and I have been part of while raising our three boys here. I have watched Roseville grow from a cheerful little railroad town to a large and diverse city. I love where we live, from the hiking trails to the hip new restaurants, and the people who live here. I am excited to bring the highlights to you!
