Hey, Roseville!

Let's get your Wednesday started up with everything you need to know going on around town today.

First, today's weather:

These are the days we live for in Sac Valley! Today's expected high is 84 degrees with an overnight low of 55. Winds will continue to be a little gusty at 5-10 mph and humidity should be about 29% during the day.

Here are the top stories in Roseville today:

  1. Firefighters and investigators are trying to determine if the fast-moving fire that broke out in Rio Linda on Monday and several other suspicious fires in the area are related. Sacramento Metro Fire was able to put Monday's blaze out with minimal damage to buildings and livestock. A cigarette discarded along the roadway was the likely cause, according to arson investigators. (Good Day Sacramento)
  2. Placer County resident do-it-yourselfers can save money and properly dispose of used auto oil filters at participating locations around town during the month of October. Bring your old filter to a participating AutoZone or O'Reilly Auto Parts store and get a new filter ($10 max value) free. (City of Roseville Utilities Facebook)
  3. With California's moratorium on evictions ending tomorrow, renters are scrambling to figure out how to access some of the more than $5.2 billion in federal funds earmarked for COVID-19 rent relief. Our friends at KCRA have broken down the process in this helpful article. And landlords, there's help here for you, too. (KCRA 3)
  4. Registered California voters will automatically receive ballots in the mail for future elections after Governor Gavin Newsom signed new legislation on Monday intended to expand voting rights and access throughout the state. Other Western states who mail ballots to voters include Oregon, Washington, Utah and Colorado. Despite opposition from Republicans concerned about vote security, there is no evidence indicating fraud in this system of voting. (ABC 10)
