  1. Have you seen The Giving Machine at the Roseville Galleria? It's a vending machine that lets you "give something sweet." You can make a charitable donation through this vending machine, in amounts from $5 to $250, to several local and national charities. So, whether you have $7 for a pair of warm socks or $150 for 1,500 warm meals, you can find something in this vending machine to make your new year and someone else's very special. The Giving Machine was supposed to be taken away on January 2, but it will now be in the mall through January 7. Plenty of time to get out there and give! (CBS News)
  2. New Mayor Bruce Houdesheldt has the distinction of being the very first mayor chosen under the new charter amendments adopted in 2020 that specified the mayoral selection process. Houdesheldt was administered the Oath of Office by his father-in-law Lawrence L. Rupp, "a retired Oregon State Trooper and Vietnam Veteran, who served two tours of duty." (Roseville Today)
