Here are the top stories in Roseville today:

  1. Rocklin police will conduct a DUI checkpoint at an undisclosed location within the city on December 23. "Rocklin Lieutenant Neil Costa said that it is usual practice for the location of the checkpoint to remain unknown to the public as the department does not want people taking alternate routes to avoid the checkpoint." (KTXL FOX 40 Sacramento)
  2. Do you have room in your heart and your home for a furry foster companion? "From now until Dec. 31, Placer County Animal Services is welcoming 'Holiday Hero' fosters to take a pet home for the holidays, even if just for a few days." You'll have to complete some paperwork and a verbal training, but then you can bring a friend home for the holidays with you. All supplies are also provided. (Roseville Today)
  3. The Doty Ravine Preserve northeast of Lincoln is being renamed. The new name will be the Weygandt Doty Ravine Preserve, in honor of retiring Placer County District 2 Supervisor Robert Weygandt, who has spent the last 28 years in public service in Placer County. (placer.ca.gov)
  4. Are you seeing double? Nope! Santa is just magical, and he can be ready for pictures in both Roseville and Rocklin from now until December 24. In Roseville you can catch a selfie with the Big Elfie at the Galleria Mall, or let his helpers do the honors, and in Rocklin, he'll be showing his pearly whites at Bass Pro Shops, where you can snag yourself a free 4 x 6 photo. (Gold Country Media)
